ABOUT THE MAKER TOMMY MARTIN
I have been playing the tin whistle or penny whistle for over 40 years and making them since 2005. I'm a professional musician and instrument maker. I've performed with shows like Riverdance, Celtic Woman and An Irish Christmas In America as well as traditional group Teada.

It was a combination of engineering curiosity, musical inclinations and the desire to work for myself that led me to start making these instruments.

In 2017 I launched a new range of whistles made with wood and a combination of an acetal polymer, Delrin, and brass for the mouthpiece.
I use African Blackwood mostly and sometimes Boxwood and Cocobolo. I believe these to be the best for mouth blown wind instruments but I'll continue to experiment with other woods too.
I'm from Thorntown (locally pronounced Thornton), a small townland in North County Dublin.
